About Megan

meganmark image nb

I’m Megan, a 34 year old living in Maryland (DC area). I have a wonderful fiancé, Mark, and we’ve been together for nine years. Our two little dogs are our children and we love them dearly. I’m a dog lover at heart.

I’ve been a vegetarian for over ten years, but haven’t been able to take off the weight. I have a major sweet tooth. Cookies, ice cream, and candy are my weaknesses. I’ve always been a chunky kid, teenager, and young adult. I have dreamed about being a runner and proudly sporting a finisher medal around my neck, and now I’m making that dream a reality.

After a scary start to 2012, I’m getting serious about my health. The love of my life was diagnosed with kidney failure, and it made me step back and really look at how I haven’t been taking care of my body. I decided to take action and have been eating healthy and running for over a year now. I’ve finished a 5k and 8k…a half marathon is my next big goal!

I look forward to sharing my favorite nutritious food and fitness adventures with you as I dash toward the finish lines in life…FULL of confidence!

  1. Hey girl!
Good luck on your journey! :-) I discovered your blog through The Lean Green Bean, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you through your blog! I’ve been trying (and failing so far) to get my blog up and running… You’re amazing start is great motivation to keep trying with mine!

    • Awww, thanks Leah! Good luck to you too! Getting everything up and running definitely took a lot of motivation and hard work, but it’s been worth it. I’ve learned so much already!

I love your fitness goals! Believe it or not, I’ve never tried yoga, but I just may have to give it a try! Looking forward to seeing your blog grow and learning from you! :)

  2. I can relate to loving the sugar. I also struggle with wanting to eat a lot of cookies, and ice cream, anything sweet. Do you have any tips on how to not indulge all the time?

    • I have to eat chocolate on a daily basis. What I do is have a small handful of semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips. It’s rich enough that I don’t eat a lot. That usually helps with the sugar craving. Much better than eating a whole pint of ice cream, which I’ve been known to do! :)

  3. I randomly stumbled on your blog and it reminds me mine a lot! We have very similar interests! I will definitely add you to my blog roll :)
